All eyes on the District 18 Democratic primary
"Milano...roaring like a lion to the finish line"
A Miner Detail, June 15, 2018
Excerpt: "Milano entered the race in late December – some said, at the time, too late – like a lamb, but she’s roaring like a lion to the finish line. No longer considered the wildcard but a leading contender, the PTA mom of two is working full-time as the executive director of a public health care organization while running a full-time campaign, putting in upwards of 90 to 100 hours a week with little sleep.
Some political insiders dub Milano as the District 18 “consensus candidate.” Her activist record in fighting against rampant abuses at the behest of multinational corporations combined with her savvy business skills and fierce negotiation abilities makes her a stand-out candidate, a policy wonk and an intrepid mom who will stand up and fight the gun lobby and work to protect students in public schools."
SEIU 500 Endorses Milano
(Kensington, Md., May 21, 2018) – The Service Employees International Union, SEIU Local 500, has endorsed Leslie Milano for the Maryland House of Delegates, District 18. SEIU Local 500, the largest Union local in Montgomery County, represents public school teachers, faculty members, child care providers, and nonprofit employees in DC and Maryland.
“If there was ever a time that Montgomery County needed an advocate for working people in Annapolis, it is now. That is why we endorsed Leslie Milano and why it is so vital that she is elected. As co-founder of a labor rights nonprofit, Leslie has devoted herself to fighting for working people and pushing corporations and employers to do better,” said Merle Cuttitta, President of SEIU Local 500.
Former Governor Parris Glendening Endorses Leslie Milano
“For the last 15 years I have worked with advocates and elected officials around the country and the world on efforts to protect our environment,” said Glendening. “Leslie’s focus on transit, walkable, sustainable communities and solar energy will make her a leader in efforts to protect our environment and our planet. She understands good environmental policy is good for the economy. She knows Maryland can be a leader in making alternate energy an important part of our economy. That is why I am enthusiastically supporting Leslie Milano for election to the Maryland House of Delegates.”
Glendening added, “I’ve been involved in Maryland politics for four decades, and as governor, I worked closely with the Maryland House of Delegates to help working families. Leslie Milano brings strong Democratic values, business experience and an innovative approach that isn’t typical in today’s politics.”

Moms Demand Action Confers Candidate Distinction on Leslie Milano
March 19, 2018 -- Leslie Milano is proud to have received the "Gun Sense Candidate" Distinction from the gun violence prevention organization, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. Moms Demand Action supports the 2nd Amendment, but believes common-sense solutions can help decrease the escalating epidemic of gun violence that kills too many of our children and loved ones every day.
Leslie will work with Moms Demand Action and Marylanders to Prevent Gun Violence to ensure that Maryland is leading the country with common-sense gun violence prevention legislation, which focuses on closing loopholes, keeping guns out of the hands of people with dangerous histories, and addressing prevention efforts in our schools in the immediate term.
